Diploglottis campbellii Cheel (Small-leaved Tamarind) is a medium-sized tree that is restricted to the warm subtropical rainforests of north-eastern New South Wales (NSW) and south-eastern Queensland. The majority of the known records are from the Tweed Local Government Area (LGA), with the remainder from Byron, Lismore, Ballina and Gold Coast LGAs.
The decline of this species can be attributed primarily to loss of and disturbance to habitat. Although the Small-leaved Tamarind has been highly successful in ex-situ cultivation, there is a serious risk that wild (in-situ) populations of the species will become extinct unless the threats currently acting on the species are removed or ameliorated.
