The Moonee Quassia is included as Endangered on the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, and on the New South Wales Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.

The Moonee Quassia is a shrub that grows to two metres high or, rarely, a small tree. The species is endemic to the north coast of NSW, and is known from only 18 locations between Moonee Beach (north of Coffs Harbour) and McCraes Knob (east of Ulmarra).
