The Government Resource Efficiency Policy, or GREP, is our plan to do the work of government more efficiently, saving money and protecting the environment for NSW. The GREP sets out targets for NSW general government sector agencies to reduce energy and water use, harmful air emissions and waste. These agencies have to report each financial year on their progress on the following:

  • total electricity and gas consumption and expenditure, including a comparison with the previous three years
  • number of energy efficiency projects undertaken during the reporting year and the estimated annual bill savings
  • total potable water consumption and expenditure, including a comparison with the previous three years once data is available
  • top three waste streams by volume and cost of disposal over the past three years.
