The land to which this notice applies, together with other lands, was declared as “significantly contaminated land” (declaration no.21074) and has been the subject of a management order (order no. 20111406) issued by the Environment Protection Authority (“the EPA”)*. The management order directed the recipient of the order to identify an acceptable remediation approach to clean up the contaminated soils on the land, the outcomes of which are to be detailed within a revised Remediation Action Plan (RAP).
The recipient of the order has requested the following amendments to the milestones set out in the order as a consequence of various technical issues and matters beyond reasonable control:
1. Remedial Options Appraisal Report – revised preparation date: 28 February 2012.
2. Engagement of an independent expert (approved by the EPA) – revised milestone: 28 February 2012.
3. Final Remedial Options Appraisal Report – revised submission date to EPA: 16 April 2012.
4. Identification of preferred remedial approach – revised milestone: 16 April 2012.
5. Remediation Action Plan – revised submission date: 16 July 2012.
The EPA has taken into consideration all the reasons set out in the request made by the recipient of the order and hereby grants the above amendments to the milestones set out in the order. Other than the amendments set out above, the remaining terms of the management order (order no. 20111406), remain in force.
