"When it rains, water runs along our drains picking up anything in its path and washes it down the drains into our stormwater system and into the rivers and lakes in which we swim, fish or sail.
"Pollution traps go part of the way to solving the problem but the Drain is Just for Rain campaign aims to work with the community to stop pollution going down the drain in the first place, " s/he said.
The campaign is part of a state-wide initiative that has been made possible by a three-year $60 million commitment by the State Government. Local councils have been funded to find solutions to tackling stormwater pollution.
