Supply of stormwater treatment devices for government departments, agencies and councils

NSW Supply Service at the request of the NSW Stormwater Board has established a period contract for the supply of stormwater treatment devices: Period Contract 19 - Stormwater Treatment Devices.

The Guide to NSW Government Period Contracts can be accessed at: DPWS-Publications

Details on the procedure for purchasing from this contract are given in: DPWS - Purchasing from Contracts

The aim of the contract is to assist councils successful in obtaining grants under the Stormwater Trust Grants Scheme in meeting their tendering obligations as specified under s 55 of the Local Government Act. This contract will also assist all councils and State Government agencies that may purchase these stormwater treatment devices.

The period contract has been arranged as a panel-type contract, covering a wide range of stormwater treatment devices. Devices have been divided into the following categories:

Category

Description

1 - Filtration Devices

Devices employed to filter stormwater through some (three-dimensional) media (eg sand, soil, organic matter)

2 - Stormwater Pit Pollutant Traps

Devices designed to be installed into standard (or modified) stormwater pits for the collections of pollutants.

3 - 'In Line' or 'End-of-Pipe' Pollutant Traps

Devices designed to remove pollutants from piped stormwater inflows. These devices may be located 'in-line' (i.e. piped inflow and outflow) or at stormwater pipe outlets.

4 - Pollutant Booms

Floating booms or traps, possibly with a hanging mesh skirt, placed across channels or creeks to collect floating or suspended pollutants.

5 - Other Devices

Stormwater Treatment Devices which do not fall within one of the above categories, or fall into more than one of these categories.

The key objectives of establishing a panel-type contract arrangement are to:

  • provide a channel to conduct business between departments, agencies, councils and industry
  • maximise value for money
  • provide better pricing through collective purchasing power;
  • identify reliable contractors
  • provide an established contract framework, minimising delays in the procurement process
  • provide a central contact for all administration, including legal and contract management.
