Targeted Vegetation Survey of Floodplains and Lower Slopes on the Far North Coast
A targeted vegetation survey of floodplain and lowland vegetation on the Far North Coast of NSW was undertaken to fill gaps in knowledge of vascular plant biodiversity on the Far North Coast associated with specific environments or land tenures.
There had been little collection of vegetation data on the floodplains, estuaries and lower slopes of the FNC before the start of the current survey.
The aim of this project was to target the vegetation of poorly sampled environments and detect variations in the distributions of individual species and in floristic groups that were not captured by remotely sensed mapping alone, to fill environmental, distributional and tenure gaps and to collect data to complement vegetation data collection across the wider region.
