Sustainable Schools NSW

Sustainable Schools NSW is a hub of resources and information for school communities interested in protecting their local environment.



A wide range of resources are available for schools and their communities in the areas of energy, waste, water, biodiversity and nature, climate change, transport and food gardens.

Use Greendates to help organise special events at your school.


Engage in a whole school approach to managing the school’s resources and facilities. Find information on:

  • funding opportunities (grants, competitions and awards)
  • managing environmental projects
  • local community partners.

Explore our natural environments and learn about nature, conservation, Aboriginal culture and historic heritage in many different NSW National Parks. Programs are available for primary, secondary and tertiary students and some programs can be delivered at your school.The Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan and the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah each contain themed environments, which provide the perfect setting for curriculum-linked environmental education excursions and school holiday programs. These experiences enable students to gain the skills and knowledge needed to become environmentally sustainable citizens.
