Sustaining our environment

Environmental Risk and Responsibility

Company efforts and environmental reputation are quickly undermined if a risk materialises into a pollution incident.

Environmental Risk and Responsibility gives Sustainability Advantage partners a clear picture of their legal obligations, and ensures they are met with rigorous risk management.

Participants first confirm their water, air, noise, land and waste obligations, and identify how they currently manage those risks. They decide what action is needed to assess their environmental compliance, and to reduce or eliminate risk in their company.

This environmental responsibilities plan is merged with their existing OH&S plans, and carried out through the 12-month implementation of Environmental Risk and Responsibility. Partners achieve continuous improvement in their risk management, helping them move beyond compliance to clean and safe production.

While results depend on a company's own efforts, Sustainability Advantage assists its partners with:

  • practical workshops;
  • a comprehensive range of guides, case studies and templates;
  • phone and email advice;
  • feedback on company documents;
  • and one-on-one specialist support.

Partners also work in a cluster of like-minded companies that offer mutual support, networking opportunities and specialist seminars. Partners' efforts towards sustainability are promoted through the Sustainability Advantage recognition program.
