Vision, Commitment and Planning

Companies that understand their environmental footprint and how the environment affects their business gain a competitive edge.  Vision, Commitment and Planning explores this business case for sustainability, and how a firm's culture, purpose and operations may change.  As a strategic level module, it involves the firm's most senior management, calls for their commitment to the Sustainability Advantage program, and sets a long-term path and initial actions.

Partners first sketch their sustainability vision and long-term goals.  These are reviewed internally to build support and to align the goals with existing corporate strategies.

A second session scopes out what is needed to deliver the sustainability goals - with appropriate plans, KPIs, resources and reporting.  Companies then implement their plan for at least 12 months, reviewing it as they would any priority business plan.

While results depend on a company's own efforts, Sustainability Advantage assists its partners with:

  • practical workshops;
  • a comprehensive range of guides, case studies and templates;
  • phone and email advice;
  • feedback on company documents;
  • and one-on-one specialist support.

Partners also work in a cluster of like-minded companies that offer mutual support, networking opportunities and specialist seminars.  Partners' efforts towards sustainability are promoted through the Sustainability Advantage recognition program.
