Model EMP: Environmental Management Plan for Landscaping Works

Model EMP coverThis model Environment Management Plan (EMP) is intended for use by anyone involved in the design, construction and management of landscaping projects.

It has been prepared primarily for businesses that need to prepare an EMP as part of a tender package or to plan and manage environmental controls in landscaping jobs.

The aim of this model EMP is to provide a framework as a starting point for anyone developing their own EMP for a particular project.

This model does not aim to explain how to solve environmental problems on site (although many examples are given). It does aim to provide a method for considering which environmental issues are relevant  and how to go about ensuring that environmental issues are addressed.

People preparing their own EMPs will draw on only those aspects of the model that suit their needs. In other words, most EMPs will be much simpler documents than this model.

Councils may wish to use this document as a guide when asking that an EMP be prepared as part of development consent.

A summary of the key issues dealt with in model EMP is provided in the booklet Site Guide: Environmental Planning for Landscaping Works. This booklet can help landscapers with work practices and managing a job site.
