Lindfield air quality monitoring station

The Lindfield air quality monitoring station is located in the grounds of the CSIRO Division of Radio Physics, Lindfield. It is situated to the north of the Parramatta River valley, close to the Lane Cove River National Park. It is in a residential area. The Lindfield station was commissioned in May 1994, decommissioned from March 2005 due to major construction works nearby and recommissioned in May 2007.

Air quality monitoring region: Sydney east

Commissioned: 1994

Elevation: 60 metres

Using data from this station, we provide hourly pollutant concentrations, 24-hour summary and an Air Quality Index (AQI).

The following air pollutants and meteorological variables are currently measured at Lindfield:

  • Ozone (O3)
  • Oxides of nitrogen (NO, NO2 and NOx)
  • Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
  • Visibilty using nephelometry
  • Fine particles - PM10
  • Wind speed, wind direction and sigma theta
  • Ambient temperature
  • Relative humidity

NOTE: The site does not currently comply with Australian Standard AS/NZS 3580.1.1:2007 - Methods for sampling and analysis of ambient air - Guide to siting air monitoring equipment as the clear sky angle is < 120° due to trees within 20 metres to the north-east and east of the monitoring site.
