Threatened species have different conservation needs depending on:
- their ecology, habitat and distribution
- threats to their survival
- how much we know about them.
What we know about each threatened species allows us to allocate them to one of six management streams:
- site-managed species
- landscape-managed species
- iconic species
- data-deficient species
- partnership species
- keep watch species
We can move species from one stream to another as their situation changes and we discover more about them.
