Waste and resource recovery

Local government action

Local government is able to influence and support more sustainable actions and behaviours within their communities in the areas of waste avoidance, minimisation and resource recovery. Local councils have key functions and responsibilities that mean they are well positioned to positively influence and drive more sustainable resource management.

Does your council have a clean sustainability bill of health? The Sustainability Health Check diagnostic tool has been developed specifically for local government to assess which aspects of council's organisational systems and relationships are sustainable and which parts need work.

Designed specifically for local councils, the Working with Local Government newsletter keeps council staff informed of initiatives, activities and programs.
