Waste and resource recovery

Public place recycling and events

Recycling is fast becoming a part of everyday life at home and at work. Now people expect to be able to recycle at play too. Nearly 90% of the people surveyed at special events and in public places in NSW said recycling at events was a very important issue (National study by BIEC & Community Change (2000) in press).

The Better Practice Guide for Public Place Recycling has been developed to help set up standard recycling systems in public places, such as parks, shopping centres, footpaths, bus-stops, etc.

The Waste Wise Events Guide offers event organisers, stallholders and Council staff and venue owners with practical resources to plan and implement an effective waste management and recycling program at your next event.

Standard Recycling Signs are an easy means of promoting recycling at events, workplaces and home.
