For authorised officers
Under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act) appropriate regulatory authorities are responsible for pollution prevention and control in NSW and include the Environment Protection Authority (now part of the Department of Environment and Climate Change), local councils, and other public authorities.
Authorised officers may be appointed to assist these regulatory authorities exercise their functions under the POEO Act.
