Water
DECCW's survey, Who cares about the environment in 2006, reported that the people of NSW see water conservation as one of our most important challenges. In fact, water was listed as a top environmental issue by more people than any other area of concern.
The survey revealed that most of us recognise that individuals also have an important role to play in managing water. Household water use accounts for 70% of Sydney's total water consumption and, nationwide, households are the second largest user of mains water after agriculture.
DECCW provides a wide array of resources and incentives to support sustainable water use by the community.
For more information on DECCW's broad range of programs and policies dealing with water management, including water flows, beachwatch, salinity and water pollution, see the water topic area of this website.
