The Co-operative Research Centre for Freshwater Ecology (now e-Water CRC) has published some excellent identification guides to Australian aquatic invertebrates, with many clear colour pictures.

The Gould League of Victoria has published a useful guide to freshwater bugs, with some good colour pictures. It’s pages are mostly taken up with an identification guide, illustrated with many good line drawings.
