Code of practice for injured, sick and orphaned koalas

The Code of practice for injured, sick and orphaned koalas replaces the Guidelines and conditions for koala care in NSW. The code contains both standards and guidelines and is designed to be read in conjunction with the Code of practice for injured, sick and orphaned protected fauna.

Compliance with the standards in the code is a condition of all OEH rehabilitation licences.

OEH staff undertake regular audits of koala rehabilitation facilities to assess compliance with the Code. Failure to meet the standards in the Code constitutes grounds for cancelling the licence.
