Picker licences
A picker licence can be issued to a person or company to pick protected or threatened native plants on someone else's property.
Licence fees and conditions
- This licence cannot be issued for picking group 4 species.
- A control site must be established for each harvested species from groups 2, 3 or 4 to assess/demonstrate sustainability.
- As a general licence condition, for harvested species from groups 2, 3 or 4, a report must be submitted to the NPWS office that issued the licence. Records must be kept up to date on harvest and sale activities, and must be available for inspection at all times.
- For group 2 species, no tags are required, but licensees must keep all receipts. For group 3 species, NPWS tags are needed. Tagging requirements vary depending on the species.
- Annual licence fees are as follows:
- 1-5 sites: $200
- 6-10 sites: $500
- 11 or more sites: $1000.
- A site is defined as a single property held under individual title, or a specific parcel of land managed by a public authority. Each state forest is considered a separate property/site, and a roadside picking site is defined as a 5km stretch of road.
- General terms and conditions for all cut-flower licences also apply.
