The Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) may issue a licence to suitably qualified people to catch and release reptiles. A licence allows handlers to legally catch and release reptiles (usually snakes) from commercial and residential homes and backyards. Reptile handlers operate under strict licence conditions to ensure human safety and animal welfare.

Catch and release possums

OEH may issue a licence to persons or businesses to catch and release possums for the purpose of mitigating damage to property. The licence permits handlers to legally catch and release possums from commercial and residential homes and backyards in accordance with the Office of Environment and Heritage possum management policy. Possum handlers operate under strict licence conditions to ensure human safety and protect animal welfare.
