Statement of significance:

Despite the unfortunate bricked in basement this remains a building of special architectural interest. One of the better Federation houses in the district. More decorative than most other rural examples in particular. The raised basement is a typical feature of floodplain houses in this locality. Would have been built as a farmhouse when dairying was enjoying its initial prosperity in the region. Still prominent on views from the roadside on the approach to Bellingen.
Note: The State Heritage Inventory provides information about heritage items listed by local and State government agencies. The State Heritage Inventory is continually being updated by local and State agencies as new information becomes available. Read the OEH copyright and disclaimer.

Physical description: Impressive Federation house. Weatherboard with iron roof. Raised basement, now unfortunately closed in with modern cream brick. Diagonal plan arrangement with gabled projection to front and one side (east). Bull nosed verandahs between, extending around whole house. Complex roof form incorporates vented gambrel. Canted bay below front gable. Excellent timberwork to main verandah, especially the unusual fretted brackets, and spindles to balustrade. Main door with topflight and sidelights. Casement windows to projections. French doors for remaining openings, with skylights. Pressed metal gable of special note, in pebbledash pattern.
Modifications and dates: Enclosure of basement area in modern cream brick seriously compromises the house's historic character. Also let down by solar roof panels and, to lesser extent, security mesh door. House also compromised by large commercial building erected in front (towards west side).
