Statement of significance:

This line of simple, neat, and pleasing cottages along Hill Street, leading up to St Johns Church, are representative of late nineteenth-century country town cottages. They are remarkably consistent in quality and form a good group.

Description

Physical description: Timber weatherboard federation cottage with corrugated iron flat hipped roof and two brick chimneys. The cottage has an enclosed timber posted, corrugated iron bullnose verandah with a brick base and decorated timber corner pieces on the posts. A ramp with timber railings leads from the verandah to the front path. The front door is a four panel timber door with a highlight window with french doors on either side of the front door. The front garden is landscaped and there is a timber board gate to the side.

The cottage is in good condition.
Date condition updated:24 May 02
Modifications and dates: At some stage the verandah has been modified with a ramp to the street and enclosed. The windows on either side of the front door have been replaced with french doors. An addition has been made to the rear of the building.

Former use: Residence

History

Historical notes: Occupied by members of Stuckey family, pre-1923.
