Statement of significance:

Attractive, symmetrically composed Colonial Federation brick bungalow with hip roof and bullnosed verandah. Former home of Richard Cross, son of prominent brickmaker Mr Ephraim Cross. Sited within shrubbed gardens and fencing of similar period.

Description

Physical description: Symmetrically composed Colonial Federation brick bungalow with hip roof (corrugated profile cladding) and bullnosed verandah on timber posts. Sited within shrubbed gardens and fencing of similar period.

Archaeological potential:
Research reveals recent removal of timber post brackets with iron lace work brackets. Alterations evident but not prominent. Overall in good condition.

History

Historical notes: Former home of Richard Cross, son of Mr Ephraim Cross, both brickmakers. Mr Cross was an alderman on Camden Council. Ephraim Cross fabricated bricks for many prominent houses, inlcuding 'Camden', 'Studley Park', and 'Camelot'.
