Statement of significance:

This well presented residence is one of a number of buildings whose age, bulk and form, make a contribution to the Villier's Streetscape. It is a good representative example of a federation residence which is largely intact.

Description

Physical description: Single storey weatherboard residence with gable to the front and bull-nosed over the verandah. The verandah extends along the front and side of the house. verandah posts, rail and slates are plain (they appear to be new). The iron roof is steeply pitched with a small gablet to the front. The design is similar to residences at 129 and 131 Villiers Street. Under the front gable two narrow double hung windows are covered by a recent metal awning. Entry to the verandah is via several steps. Piers at the base of the steps are decorated with rough cast moulding. The iron on the bull-nose appears original. Mature garden. Picket fence to front

History

Historical notes: The early history of this dwelling is not known. Sewer plans dated 1945 show the owner as Mrs H. Ford and the address as 127 Villiers Street. By 1975 the owner was Mr. R.G.Powell. It was subsequently purchased by R. G. & J. Robinson (1976) and A.K. & L.G.Dahl (1982). In 1986 a building permit was sought to make alterations to the dwelling which included adding a family room and deck. Another permit was sought in 1998 for an inground pool, garage and carport.
