Statement of significance:

This Federation cottage with its projecting gable and original joinery to windows and doors compliments the Victoria Street landscape. While modified with additions are to the rear and it presents an historic façade to the street. Very well maintained.

Description

Physical description: A weatherboard and hardiplank cottage with steeply pitched galvanised iron roof. Verandahs extend along the front and western side. Original joinery to front windows and door. Windows are paired, long and narrow with moulded surrounds. Ashlar and batten decoration under the front projecting gable. Filigree ironwork to the front verandah.

Modifications and dates: This building was moved from it's original site in Pound St to make way for the Shopping world development in the 1980s.This residence has undergone major renovations including a second storey addition at the rear. However many exterior feature have remained intact.

History

Historical notes: No readily available history. Sewer plans are not available for this dwelling. It does however stand 6.02 metre from Victoria Street which is less than the present minimum set back of 7.5 m. It covers an area of approximately 707.1 sq metres.
