Statement of significance:

An attractively restored Federation bungalow, set within a cottage garden, which contributes to the Villiers street landscape. It shows development in this part of Grafton city at the turn of the century and sits well with an adjacent Federation cottage. It is architecturally significant with retention of some original joinery. It is associated with W.J. Weiley of Weiley's Hotel.

Physical description: Attractive Federation bungalow with steeply pitched iron roof and bull-nosed verandah to the front. Joinery to windows and front door appears original. Central front door and paired windows on either side. Filigree iron work below the front verandah rail. Turned verandah posts. Picket fence. The dwelling is set within a cottage garden with frangipani, lot size is 635.1sq meters. Chimney intact. The cottage stand 2.5m from Villiers Street which is forward of councils current building line.

Historical notes: The early history of this dwelling is no known but sewer plans dated 30/5/1935 show the owner as Mr W. J. Weiley. At that time he also owned the cottage next door at 65 Villiers Street. Mr W.J. Weiley, of Weileys Hotel, owned several properties in Grafton at this time. By 1975 the owner was Mr K. Singh and it seemed to remain in the ownership of the Singh family until 1993. In that year the owners R.J. &H.K. Murgatroyd applied to Council to build a family room, laundry, Garage/Carport to the house. Other owners include G.J. & M.T. Schubert in 1997 and D. J.Hales in 2006.
