Description

Construction years: 1904-
Physical description: The house at 24 King road, Wilberforce is a single storey Federation house with influences of the Queen Anne style. It has a medium pitched hipped roof with projecting gables to the right of eh street elevation and at the rear of he side elevation. A bullnosed verandah wraps around the house between the two gables.

The roof is of corrugated steel and the house is clad in rusticated weatherboards. Paired stop chamfered timber posts support the verandah.

The gables are embellished with a simple timber screen. The gabled fronts have wide rectangular projecting bays with multipane casement windows and toplights.

History

Historical notes: This land was owned by Mary Mills in 1864 but she gifted it to Mary Greentree in 1884. She in turn gifted it to her son Arthur Henry Greentree in 1901. In 1904, he built this house for himself of weatherboards as well as a builders’ workshop. A H Greentree was a builder. By 1926, the house was named "Carinya".
