Statement of significance:

Volcanic rock in an area predominantly of sandstone has created an unusual environment, part of which is a recreational reserve, part used for quarrying bluemetal. It reflects the mix of landuse (industrial and recreational) in the shire

Physical description: eroded valley of volcanic rock is surrounded by parkland . A blue metal quarry occupies the lower portion of the valley, the rest is public land, laid out as part of the Great North Walk Material Exterior : volcanic rock

Further information: quarry operated 1909 to WWII, reopened 1950s. Bushland walks were created in the 1930s as part of unemployment relief
