Statement of significance:

Fine Federation house with much original detail. Good condition and little altered. Unusual square plan form. Owner-designed and built by Councillor Wright of Hornsby Council.

Physical description: Federation house. Tuck-pointed dichromatic face brick. Terracotta tiled roof originally slate. Unusual form; square plan with pyramidal roof. Verandah is formed by recesses returning on one side. Outstanding decorative timberwork including chamfered posts drip moulds brackets valence and balustrade. Deep eaves. Ingle-nook on corner. Oeil-de-boeuf in leadlight. Large grounds. Good garden.


Historical notes: This house was owner-designed and built in 1912 by Councillor Wright of Hornsby Shire Council. The original land on which this house was situated ran from Werona Avenue to the rail line.
