Statement of significance:

Example of an early Federation period two storey weatherboard house. Built by the pioneering Shields family. Believed to be the first home in Pennant Hills. Substantially altered but retains much of its original fabric.

Physical description: Old weatherboard house with attic storey. Corrugated iron roof with single gable facing street. Narrow eaves. Louvred double-hung windows four panes per sash.


Historical notes: 'Rosemount' was built in the 1890s for Joseph Shields and his family. The farmhouse was originally situated on seventeen acres of orchard. The street was named after the orchard subdivision.
