Description

Construction years: 1898-
Physical description: Single storey face brick cottage of brown open kiln bricks with slate roof. Tall Federation chimney with elaborate strap work detail Terracotta crestings to slate roof. Winding gravel path to side entry. Shrubby garden with plumbag hedge. Stone gate posts (National Trust).
Modifications and dates: Substantially intact

History

Historical notes: Originally built by Dixon E Vernon and later used as a school and residence 'Highfields College' built c.1898. Association with many well known Ku-ring-gai families who had boys of the school and as an important element in the streetscape of Ku-ring-gai Avenue (National Trust) Historical period: Pre- 1900.
