Designer/Maker: John Spencer Stansfield
Construction years: 1920-
Physical description: It is a large English-styled two storey villa from the post-World War 1 period, in dark red brick with a terracotta plain tiled roof. There is a half-timbered gable with shingle work to the rear of the block. The design elements of this house are greatly simplified and the massing is extremely well handled. There is a garden of mature eucalypts, tree ferns and pine, with remnants of the original gravel drive with brick edging (National Trust).
Modifications and dates: Various areas altered or extended either sympathetically or unsympathetically.

Historical notes: Built to the design of Architect John Spencer Stansfield, for himself. Stansfield was the architect for the suburb Haberfield. Major Eric Campbell, leader of the New Guard movement, which conspired against the Lang Government, bought the house in 1929 ( the home of W.C. Penford 1928), and meetings of the group were held there (National Trust). Historical period: 1901-1920.
