Construction years: 1899-
Physical description: This is a very large two storey house dominated by an American classical portico with a shingled balcony featuring half moon insert. Walls are face brick (painted), verandah floor is teselated encaustic tiles and roof of terracotta tiles. The interior features a fine entrance hall with elaborate turned timber staircase (painted) lit by a skylight with pressed metal surrounds; very spacious formal rooms with elaborate timber fire surrouds and panelled doors. Painted interior joinery and plaster ceilings with elaborate roses (National Trust). The garden contains many mature mature trees and other early plantings, particularly around the perimeter. The garage at the front is a recent but sympathetic addition (National Trust).
Modifications and dates: Altered or extended unsympathetically


Historical notes: Built to the design of Thomas Cosh for Mr McIllrath (?) of Ingleholme, for his daughter (National Trust). Historical period: Pre-1900.
