Designer/Maker: G.M Pitt
Builder/Maker: Brown & Tayson
Construction years: 1898-
Physical description: An important corner house in the Ku-ring-gai conservation area. A large 2 & 3 storey house on a rusticated sandstone base with tuck pointed red brickwork for the ground floor and rough cast above. The gables, balconies and awnings are shingled and the roof is covered in unglazed terra cotta tiles. The verandah supports are classical columns set on stone base. The building form is broken and irregular, and despite some unsympathetic infilling of verandahs is in generally good condition. Garden features some mature specimen trees (National Trust). Note: The building is subdivided into strata units.
Modifications and dates: Altered or extended unsympathetically

Historical notes: The architect G.M.Pitt called for tenders on March 12 1898 in B.E.J. and the house was built in 1898 by Brown & Tayson for Dr Syme. In 1907 the building was transferred to Adofine Granouski wife of Oscar Granowski an Engineer of Turramurra and was renamed Dembowalonka (National Trust). Historical period: Pre- 1900.
