Statement of significance:

SIGNIFICANCE - 1993: Characteristic architectural form is representative of its place and period. However a few small details (fretwork bargeboards, possibly the bullnose verandah roof) set the house apart from others of its standing.
It belongs to the time of the 2nd development and subdivision of Dora Creek in the 1890s.
Very few buildings of this period still exist east of the bridge in Dora Creek and nothing appears to remain of the earlier (1840s) settlement of "Newport" in the same area.
The house is a reminder of the time when Dora Creek was a prosperous fishing village.
Recent additions have been carried out in a sympathetic manner and do not compromise the significance of the cottage.
LEVEL of SIGNIFICANCE - 1993: Local Significance - high
Date significance updated: 13 May 08
