Statement of significance:

Rare local example of a masonry house and cast iron lacework. A late example of a Victorian villa. Italianate form and styling rare locally, and uncommon generally in the early twentieth century. House set in attractive garden in the heart of the Girards Hill conservation area (see listing 40011). High local significance.

Designer/Maker: FJ Board (possibly)
Construction years: 1905-1905
Physical description: Early Federation period building. Standard asymmetrical form. Hipped pitched roof with canted projection to front. Roof sheeting in decorative patterned slate. Two chimneys with heavy cornices and twin chimney pots. Skillion verandah returning to side. Timber verandah posts with cast iron brackets and valance. Cast iron balustrade panels. Cement rendered walls with rendered architrave and capital and Tuscan pilasters to bay windows. Close mullioned double hung windows.
Modifications and dates: Exterior appears to be in near original condition.


Historical notes: Believed to have been built from the material obtained from the demolished Lismore Public School. Stables located on adjoining property, 46 Cathcart Street.
