Statement of significance:

This house is significant as possibly the best example of an impressive Federation style house in Maclean. It is enhanced by sandstone sub walls, bifurcated entry stair and sandstone block garden retaining wall. Weatherboard walls with galvanised iron roof having gambrel ended main hipped roof with projecting gables and roof continued down unbroken over verandahs. Timber details to balustrade, valances, window hoods and joinery have the usual federation flair.

Description

Physical description: Large impressive Federation style house sitting high over hill on steep block being greatly enhanced by sandstone sub walls, bifurcated entry stair and sandstone block garden retaining wall. Weatherboard walls with galvanised iron roof having gambrel ended main hipped roof with projecting gables and roof continued down unbroken over verandahs. Verandahs nicely articulated between projecting wings to give symmetrically balanced elevation to street. Timber details to balustrade, valances, window hoods and joinery have the usual federation flair. Feature window under front gable with shingle sunhood and decoration under with two side casement windows and double hung in centre. Some verandah portion remain enclosed, but simply restored.
