Statement of significance:

This lone grave is of high local significance as a lone funerary marker of Thomas family who lived in this area and evidence of the original land grants made to the family from 1835. It is aesthetically significant in its setting which overlooks the Hexham swamps and retains its cast iron surround which is rare locally.

Description

Physical description: The remaining monument is a 2m white marble obelisk with scrolls on a sandstone base dated 1904, it is enclosed in an ornate cast iron low surround.the area is further enclosed in an unpainted wooden picket fence.
Current use: Grave

History

Historical notes: The area was originally a grant made to John Thomas in 1835.
