Statement of significance:

Significant as a partner to the neighbouring No. 85/87 with which it appears to share most features. Current modification to facade is intrusive but probably reversible. Retains original slate roof with terracotta ridge capping and finials.

Description

Physical description: Two storey brick pair of semi-detached houses, with hipped gable and gabled roof clad in slate tiles. Symmetrical, with twin gable ends to the street and pyramidal roofed tower bay central to each side facade. Gable ends are roughcast rendered and half-timbered. Original slate roof with original ridge capping, finials etc. provides evidence for the possible restoration of the roof of Nos. 85 & 87 Ridge Street, adjacent.This building is designed in the Federation Queen Anne style.

Modifications and dates: The building has been divided into flats and the verandahs enclosed to the level of the eaves by a steel and glass curtain wall, with the sides enclosed by brick walls.
Further information: 85 & 87 Ridge Street, an originally matching pair of semi-detached houses.
