Statement of significance:

An very good example of a three storey Victorian Filigree style terrace house, one of a group of four that provide an imposing streetscape. See Group listing NSHS0080. The interior is also of significance.

Physical description: One of a three storey terrace of four houses (Nos. 44, 46, 48, 40 Jeffreys Street) with two-level verandahs and upper floor set-back. A three/four storey coursed rendered terrace house set above the street on a sandstone base with a basement level and steps up from the street. Two storey timber verandah set between flanking party walls with a cast iron lace balustrade and valance at both levels and a corrugated metal roof. Verandah has tessellated tiles at the ground floor with tile risers to the steps.. Skillion corrugated metal roof behind the front parapet with a render cornice. Part glazed French doors and fanlights to lower levels. Four pane double hung sash windows to the second floor with render architraves.
Four storey rear elevations with verandahs at the first floor. Gardens to rear with garaging to Broughton Street.
One of a three storey terrace of four houses (Nos. 44, 46, 48, 40 Jeffreys Street) with two-level verandahs and upper floor set-back. Cast-iron verandah balustrades are featured. This building is designed in the Victorian Filigree style.
