Statement of significance:

The house at 67 High Street is of significance for the local area for historical reasons and as a representative example of residential architecture of the Federation period in this area. Built c. 1895, the house is readilly identifiable as part of historic building stock and strongly contributes to the streetscape.

Description

Construction years: 1895-
Physical description: Single storey Federation house of tuck pointed brick walls is with moulded dark brick stringline at floor level. Gablet hip roof has terracotta tiles with terracotta crockets along ridgeline, terracotta ram's horn finials and exposed rafters. Projecting gable to street front has timber ladder gable screen over spatterdash infill. Three tall brick chimneys are with stepped corbels and dentils and two squat terracotta pots on each chimney. Verandah has terracotta tiled roof with exposed rafters across front to projecting gable and return to north side. Verandah floor is timber, supports are timber posts stop chamfered with decorated brackets. Verandah is decorated with exposed rafters above shaped timber mouldings that form ogee arch between verandah posts. Windows have moulded brick sills. Exterior doors have transom light over French doors with bolection mould panels below and glazed panels above. They have timber louvre shutters. Front door has coloured glazed transom light and sidelights that flank timber door with a narrow glazed pane above large square glazed panel. There are two vertical timber panels under lock rail. Front fence is solid brick fence with soldier brick coping, brick piers with aluminium palisade panels between and aluminium spearhead palisade gate.
