House at 59 Merrylands Street is of significance for the local area for historical and representativeness reasons. Built c.1914, it is readily identifiable as part of historic building stock and strongly contributes to the streetscape.

Description

Construction years: 1914-
Physical description: Single storey Federation cottage has corrugated iron roof on weatherboard walls. Roof is gable across front with projecting gable to rear. There are two brick chimneys. Verandah has bullnose corrugated iron roof with hip corner, supported by timber posts stop chamfered and decorated with turned timber brackets . Return verandah is enclosed along side elevation. Front verandah has balustrade of lattice privacy screen. Windows have timber sills. Front door has transom light above Victorian timber four panel door with upper panels glazed. Front fence is timber post and rail fence on brick plinth.
