Statement of significance:

The Milton Avenue group of cottages is of significance for the local area for historical reasons and as representative of the Federation period cottages in the area. The house group makes a notable contribution to townscape due to similarities in age, design and materials.

Description

Construction years: 1913-
Physical description: The group includes three single storey weatherboard cottages with roofs clad in corrugated iron, built c. 1910. No. 18 features verandah across the front and hipped roof. Nos. 27 and 29 have projecting street facing gables, verandahs to the projecting bay. No. 27 verandah is returning to one side. All the houses have brick chimneys with corbels, historic period doors, verandahs with timber floors, square posts, bullnosed corrugated iron roof and decorative elements (No. 18 filigree lattice, No. 27 turned timber spindles in ladder valance and simple brackets, No. 29 simple timber brackets only). Nos. 27 and 29 also have timber brackets with skillion awning above one window on main elevation. Each cottage was subject to (generally sympathetic) additions.
