Statement of significance:

The group of houses at 6, 8, 10 and 12 Oak Street is of significance for the local area as a representative example of simple timber cottages of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This group as a whole makes an important contribution to the streetscape and the area character.

Description

Construction years: 1900-1915
Physical description: Group of four single storey cottages: No.6 is a fibro cottage with hipped roof with corrugated iron and front Verandah. Nos. 8 and 10, each is a single fronted weatherboard cottage with steep gabled roof with corrugated iron and a front verandah, situated on half allotment. No. 12 is a fibro cottage with hipped roof with corrugated iron and a front verandah. Nos. 4, 6 and 12 have brick chimneys with steps. Nos. 6, 8 and 12 have reeded timber architraves. Fences vary. Nos 6 and 12 are Victorian vernacular single-storey cottages, while Nos. 8 and 10 are Federation workers' cottages. Nos. 6 and 8 have transom lights above Federation five panelled doors with two small glazed panes above a large square glazed pane with two timber bolection mould panels below lock rail.
