Statement of significance:

The house, built c. 1900, makes an important contribution to the streetscape and the Sorrell Street Conservation Area, additionally as part of the set of adjacent houses of similar design, age and style. It shares some features with the adjacent 8 Isabella Street and Nos. 75 and 79-81 Sorrell Street, it was in the ownership of the same locally prominent builder Thomas Cranney around the same time as those houses (c.1910s-1920s), and may have been modelled in conjunction with those buildings.
