Statement of significance:

House at 37 Weston Street is of significance for the local area for historical and representativeness reasons. Built c.1900, it is readily identifiable as part of historic building stock and continues to contribute to the streetscape.

Description

Construction years: 1900-
Physical description: Single storey Federation house of wide weatherboards has asbestos cement diamond shingled pyramid roof and two tall brick chimneys corbelled at top and with two squat terracotta pots. Verandah runs across front, returns to the east side and also returns across rear of the cottage. Main roof is extending over verandah and is supported by square timber columns with decorative timber ladder balustrade. Verandah is decorated with curved valance with ladder infill between two entrance posts. Windows have timber sill with open scroll under, and reeded timber architraves. Exterior French doors have transom light and sidelights with bolection mould panels below and glazed panels above. Front door has coloured glazed transom lights and sidelights with three small glazed panes above a shield shaped coloured glazed panel. Below the lock rail are three vertical timber panels. Front fence is new weldmesh fence.
