Statement of significance:

The William Street group of timber cottages is of significance for the local area for historical and aesthetic reasons and as a representative example of early houses that makes a notable contribution to townscape due to similarities in age, design and materials.

Construction years: 1910-
Physical description: Group of three single storey double fronted weatherboard cottages, with hipped and gambrel roofs clad with corrugated iron. Roof constructions are: No. 115: gambrel hip with projecting gable and simple ladder gable screen; No. 117: gambrel hip weatherboard gable infil; No. 119: gable with projecting gable front with louvred ventilator in gable. Chimneys: No. 115: two tall brick chimneys with terracotta cowl; No. 117: tall brick chimney with brick strap work. Verandahs are skillion, with corrugated iron roof, with hip corner across front to projecting gable, and timber floors (No. 117: timber with early pattern ceramic tile risers). Verandahs have timber posts, stop chamfered, No. 115: with timber scrolled brackets; No. 117: with timber open scrolled valance and timber ladder balustrade; No. 119: with timber ladder balustrade and with timber brackets with incised tulip decoration. Windows have: No. 115: corniced rendered brick sills; Nos. 117 and 119: decorated timber sills. Front doors are Federation five panelled doors, with upper panels colour-glazed; No. 117 also has side lights. Awnings: Nos. 117 and 119 have skillion awnings with timber ladder brackets. Fences: No.115 and 117 have timber picket fence and gate; No. 119 has aluminium cyclone wire fence and gate. Additions: No.115 has carport attached to house.

Historical notes: Built 1905 -15. These cottages all appear to be Hudson's pre-fabricated cottages. No. 117 in particular is very similar to Designs 15 and 16 in the Hudson catalogue.
