Statement of significance:

Impressive turn-of-the-centruy transitional design. Federation with some Victorian features. Essentially unaltered. Excellent streetscape on corner site. Complements No. 137 on adjoining corner. Local significance.

Construction years: 1890-1915
Physical description: Good two storey semi-detached. 1890's transitional design with Federation and Victorian features. Face brick with rendered mouldings and shaped bricks to arches over porch entries. Outstanding canted bays on each side with porches and balconies between Strong vertical emphasis. High, narrow, sash windows. Small gablets above bays. Slate roof. Moulded chimneys. Excellent original palisade fence and gates. Spoiled only by balcony enclosure (No. 133), painted bricks (balcony to No. 131), security doors, and window grilles (No. 133). Prominent on corner site.

Historical notes: First appears in Sands Directory in 1900. Known until the 1920's as "Wharncliffe" (No. 131) and "Barncleuth" (No. 133).
