Construction years: 1890-1915
Physical description: Federation style classroom building facing Salisbury Street. Three storeys with gabled tiled roof. Face brick with distinctive white painted quoining and string courses. Balconies between towers on Salisbury Street elevation. These are all that remain of original front verandahs. Double verandah at rear appears to be a relatively recent addition. Gates to Carrington Road, on Salisbury Street corner, also of note.
Current use: School
Former use: School

Historical notes: School established in 1903 on land acquired from the Barlow family in 1902. "Airmount" (originally "Ellerslie"), the former family home, was used for the first classes. This building first completed in 1903. Second storey added in 1914. Height increased again in 1920 when towers took their present form. Old photos indicate loss of verandahs and detailing in the course of enlargement. Other early buildings on the school property demolished, including "Airmount" and "Merrowie".
